Payment Link Trigger Automated Email?

Is there a way for me to trigger an automated email after someone makes a purchase on a specific payment link?

For example, they buy something here: https://square.link/u/sSMDWvlI

And after they pay, an email gets sent to them.

I use MailerLite as my email distribution and I do have Zapier, but Zapier doesn't seem to support this.

Any solutions?

Solution

Yes! While Square doesn’t natively support automated emails triggered by specific payment links, there are a couple of ways you can set this up using Zapier, MailerLite, or Square’s built-in email tools.

Option 1: Using Square + MailerLite via Zapier (Workaround)

  • Even though Zapier doesn’t directly support tracking purchases from specific payment links, you can create a Zap that triggers when any Square transaction occurs.
  • Then, in MailerLite, you can set up a rule to filter recipients who purchased a specific item (if each payment link is tied to a different item).
  • This isn’t a perfect solution, but it can work if your payment link is for a unique product/service.

Option 2: Square Marketing’s Automated Emails

  • If you’re open to using Square’s built-in email tools, you can create an Automated Campaign in Square Marketing that sends an email to customers after they make a purchase.
  • While this doesn’t trigger based on a specific payment link, it can be filtered by item, category, or customer group.
  • You can access this under Square Dashboard → Marketing → Create Campaign → Automated Campaigns.

Option 3: Manually Export & Upload to MailerLite

  • If the automation route doesn’t work, another method is to periodically export customer purchases from Square (filtered by that specific payment link’s associated item) and import them into MailerLite to send follow-up emails.
  • While not instant, it works if you don’t need real-time automation.

Final Thoughts

If you’re set on using Zapier, you might have to explore custom webhooks via Square’s API to capture payments from a specific link. If Square expands Zapier’s capabilities to recognize individual payment links, that would be the cleanest solution—might be worth submitting a feature request here.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you find a better workaround.
