Under privacy the apps that want to access microphone are shown as dull (even the Square app), there is nothing I can do.

Hi @Myartisano and welcome to the Community!
When you were trying to enable it, were you doing it by going to Settings (on the iPhone itself- not the app) > Point of Sale > Enable Microphone? Try scrolling down until you see Point of Sale instead of going to Privacy.

No I can’t scroll down on the square app, all it shows is the message enable microphone on the privacy settings in the setting app.

@Myartisano If you don't have any offline mode payments pending, try deleting the app and re-installing it.
It'll prompt you when it's newly downloaded to allow the microphone there and that should resolve this issue since you can't get to it in the app settings on your iPhone.

After trying so many things eventually got rid of the issue by reinstalling the application on your iPhone.

Oh, the issue with not being able to enable microphone access on your iPhone can be frustrating, but it's actually something that can usually be fixed pretty easily! It's likely tied to privacy settings, which Apple is pretty strict about for obvious reasons. Sometimes an app might not prompt you correctly to give it access to your mic, or you might have accidentally denied it when it first asked.
To fix it, the first thing you'd want to do is head over to your iPhone's Settings app. Once you're in, scroll down until you see the Privacy section—it'll be near the middle of the list. Tap on that, and you should see a section labeled Microphone. When you tap on that, you’ll see a list of all the apps that have requested access to your microphone. Just make sure the app you’re having trouble with is switched to "on" here.
Sometimes, an app won’t show up in that list if it hasn’t asked for permission yet. If that’s the case, you can try deleting and reinstalling the app. When you open it again, it should prompt you for microphone access. Just be sure to hit “Allow” this time around!
If you have problem persist after trying these solution, you can follow for more details assistance below.
