Does anyone have any tips on ecommerce and dropshipping?

I honestly get overwhelmed at times.

HI @Memnoch

Welcome to the Seller Community.  Curious, what are your main items that you are selling/drops-hipping?   Are there any more specific questions that you have regarding drop-shipping?  Who are you your main supplies, and what are your main sales channels that you are using?

Looking forward to your reply

I apologize for the late response. Well I'm new to it all. To sum it up I've tried Shopify twice and couldn't exactly get things going as far as making any profit. Also I'm aware that Shopify has a plethora of third party integrations which is a blessing which makes things easier, but in the end it's the costs. I was trying to figure out a way around the costs of everything? Any advice or suggestions I would really appreciate. Thank you for your time.

@Memnoch A few thoughts on drop shipping:

1. Finding a product that you can source for a reasonable price and keep your prices within normal margins is key. You can put 1,000 products drop shipped but if they're overpriced for the market or flooded on the market you won't sell.

2. Building a brand and identity takes a LOT of time and energy, expecting a drop shipping site to take off without a unique identifier is going to be almost impossible.

3. If you can find a unique product that isn't mass produced you're often better off going that route as I hate to say it drop shipping is often a scam because there are already 10,000+ sites all trying to sell the exact same products.

4. If someone is telling you to pay for dropshipping leads or product leads, walk away, that's 100% not going to pay off.

At the end of the day remember that humans are creatures of comfort which means unfortunately they rarely take a chance on a brand new ecommerce website and even friends/family will quickly be tapped out as everyone is busy with their lives or their funds are tight. Just remember to temper expectations and focus on building a quality site/product line, too many people find one or two product, throw all of their money at social media marketing, and then are disappointed when they threw thousands at marketing only to barely recoup their investment (if they're lucky).

Best of luck, personally I don't believe individuals drop shipping is that viable in the long-run when sites like Temu are doing drop shipping but on a massive level and are dropping millions if not billions of dollars into advertising.

If you're looking into ecommerce I strongly recommend looking for products that aren't being drop shipped and either distributing or fulfilling them yourself as the margins in drop shipping are super low.

Best of luck and don't be discouraged but temper expectations so that you are honestly less overwhelmed!
