Why do tips for online orders not assign to the employee who processed the order?

We have it set up to assign the tips at the end of each day to the employee who handles the order. We are noticing at the end of the day there are unassigned tips. When we reference the individual transactions it appears they are tips from online orders, how do we get those to automatically assign to a team member?

Hello @Bakerzdozen !

 

Yeah, online tips usually record as unassigned since Square doesn't know who on your side is actually processing the order.

 

There is a way you can have the tips split evenly between all tip eligible employees who are clocked in at the time the order is placed though:

Shifts -> Settings -> Tips

Choose "Pool Tips per Transaction"

 

Also, I recommend enabling "Distribute Unallocated Tips Equally" a little further down the page. This way any tips that come in after hours or when there aren't any tip eligible employees on the clock will be distributed evenly to anyone who worked that day.
