My partner and I used to collect a salary on payroll, but deactivated ourselves in June when we realized we needed to cut costs and stop paying ourselves. Now suddenly after 6 months of being deactivated, both my partner and myself were reactivated and Square began paying us our old salaries this week. Why would Square suddenly reactivate us? Moreover, how do I know they won't reactivate a terminated employee out of the blue?
What makes this even more frustrating is that when I go into to try and deactivate myself from payroll, it does not present as an option in the drop down menu from the 3 dots, which is how Square says we now deactivate employees (since they have merged Team and Payroll). How am I supposed to deactivate myself and insure that I don't keep collecting a salary I cannot afford from my own business? I have reduced my salary to zero for now. I can deactivate any other team member using the drop down menu; it just doesn't show up for my name.
