I understand that Square Payroll can calculate the State and Federal taxes and withholdings for the employer and employee. However, if it is found that there was an error with calculation or filling of these, does Square assume the responsibility of this (if the employer and employee had previously given accurate information)? Furthermore, does Square pay for the corrections to the proper agency on behalf of the employer and/or employee? I have been researching payroll options and it's appealing to learn of other companies commitment to assume responsibility for potential errors, provided they receive accurate information from the employee and employer.
Hi there, @SouthernTarget1,
We can help provide some clarity here! Square Payroll does assume responsibility for the accuracy of preparing and filing State and Federal taxes. Here are some key points:-
-Tax Preparation and Filing: Square Payroll prepares and files your tax forms electronically. This includes federal and state taxes, which are calculated and withheld every time a payroll run is processed.
- Tax Payments: Square Payroll deposits all federal tax payments using the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) on a semi-weekly schedule, ensuring timely payments.
- Guarantee: If you receive a notice from a tax agency due to an error made by Square Payroll, they will cover any associated penalties and fines.
