Request Shift Cover

Hello,

As of right now our employees can trade shifts with each other in the app but we want them to be able to just request a cover without trading one of their shifts. 

An example would be let’s say Amy needs to take off work last minute and John agrees to work her shift but John doesn’t want to trade a shift - he just wants to pick up the extra hours. Is there a way that Amy can request a cover in the app?

Hi @JosephC1986.  There is no way to do that, currently.  I’m pretty sure that has been requested, but you can check on this feature request board and if it hasn’t submit a request for it.  Currently, if this happens at my shop (very rare) I just have the employees work it out and then text me.  I make the change on dashboard and republish the schedule.  It’s not ideal, of course.

Is this actually being worked on? Shift covers is a recurring event, whether its 2x a month or every week, it happens and it happens more often than not in hospitality, and in today's covid world where you have call outs for medical. Coordinating via text with dozens of employees is a hassle, and not as professional either. Texting and personal messages shouldnt be a solution - which also brings another feature that Homebase and other scheduler apps have - messaging within the app! As an owner, and employee, the more separation between work and personal assets/time, the better. Keep communications "at work."

Is there anyone with development at Square that we can actually talk to? Do we get actual updates and solutions to requests on here or is it just a forum for sellers/users to vent?
