Pick up shifts without trading/swapping

I would like my employees to be able to basically swap shifts without requiring a full swap shift for shift. Example: Jane wants to pick up Joe's shift on Monday because he can't work, but they don't need to swap any other shifts, she's just willing to pick up that shift.

We initially made an Open shift for that slot, but then once the Open shift was filled, we had to un-schedule and delete Joe's shift. Which is annoying and would be bad if we forgot to delete that.

Any way to trade without fully trading?

Hey @bpc20,

Thanks for being a member of the Community.

Are you using the Shifts Free or Plus plan?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you for confirming, @bpc20.

If you’re unable to fill a particular shift and would like to open the option to all team members associated with a particular job title, you can use open shifts.

I have the same question here; the reply above does not seem to fully answer the question.

In the example scenario, all shifts have been assigned, but Joe realizes last-minute that he can't work and Jane has agreed to pick up the shift.

So there is not a shift that is unable to be filled, and it doesn't need to be opened to all team members.

For my business, I would just want Joe to drop the shift, Jane to pick it up, and me (manager) to be notified of the change.

It seems that currently in Square Shifts (I'm using Team Management Plus), the only option for employees is to fully swap two assigned shifts - as opposed to Jane just taking one shift from Joe.

Am I correct?

Is there any work-around for this?

Thanks! Julie
