Payroll going into CashApp account instead of personal checking account

I have an employee receiving payroll into CashApp account instead of his checking account. He has verified his checking account information is correct.  How do I have his payroll deposited into his checking account and not his CashApp account?

Hi @UptownJ1! Thank you for reaching out.

I checked with our Payroll team and they offered a few tips:

  • Double-check the direct deposit information in Square Payroll for your employee. Make sure the routing and account numbers entered match the employee’s checking account.
  • Ask your employee if their checking account and Cash App account share the same routing and account numbers. Some banks and fintech providers (including Cash App) may use the same details for both, which can cause confusion in deposit routing.
  • If your employee has previously linked their checking account to Cash App, and the same account details are used for both, payroll deposits may be automatically routed to Cash App. In this case, your employee may need to unlink or update their Cash App direct deposit settings, or provide a different checking account for payroll.
  • Advise your employee to contact their bank to confirm how direct deposits are handled, as some banks may have difference processes for direct deposit.

I hope these tips help! If your employee is still having issues, please let me know and I can take another look for you.
