We have been using Square since our doors opened in 2017 and have loved it. We started using Payroll the very next year and have grown from 5 paychecks a pay period to 16 paychecks. Today, I was notified from our state that we need to start paying our State Income Tax monthly instead of Quarterly. I cannot find a place within the app to change this. Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Glen
Hello Glen @MiladyCoffee ,
I do not see any place to change the state filing frequency either. I don't think it exists.
With that being said, I'm wondering if you are seeing the deduction for the state income tax withheld out of each payroll run? If you are, then I think Square may already paying this for you monthly. I only say that based on my experience as I am also now using Square payroll and discovered that I no longer have to file a monthly report for my state income tax withholding and file the report quarterly.
Although I am required to pay monthly also, Square has been depositing the funds each pay period. My state is fine with this, as they are getting the funds (which is most important to them obviously) and in doing so, I only have to file the report each quarter.
I guess my suggestion would be to contact your state and ask them if they have been getting the payment each pay period now. If so, I'm guessing you are OK. Keep in mind though, I'm not a tax specialist and am only sharing my experience with Square.
Plan B would be to call Square Tech Support and ask.
Hope this helps some.
