When I signed up for Square my new last name didn't work when putting in my personal information with my social security. The only way it would match up the information was with my maiden last name. I did not think that this would become my business owner's name.
Will my maiden name being the name on the business affect me when I file for taxes? Or is this insignificant and something that can be ignored? I don't want taxes to come around next year and it become a major issue. But I also cannot change my last name as the business owner because Square does not allow it. HELP!
Hi 10bellelayne,
It would be in your best interest to seek the advice of a Professional (someone who not only understands taxes but, how your business is legally setup). Once you have the proper advice and assistance you need - moving forward, if it's not possible to make the changes to your current Square Account, maybe closing the account and setting up a new one would be an option. The members here are a great resource for basic Square related questions however, when it comes to Taxes and/or how your business is setup, that's a bit beyond the scope of this Community.

			Hi there, @10bellelayne! 👋
@JK_Fiber_Art hit the nail on the head with this one 🔨
We are extremely limited when it comes to taxes and advice. On all of our Support Articles we provide the disclaimer:

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more assistance for this issue, but consulting with a professional is going to get you the best possible outcome here. 😄

Hey there! When I created my square account 12 years ago I wasn't married. I did get married in 2018, and because of how Square is set up I can't edit my name. I've left it and my accountant hasn't given me any issues or even brought it up. As long as your other information related to your business is correct, like your EIN, sales tax, etc you're probably fine. But double check with your business attorney and accountant to be sure.
