New shifts plus (Payroll service)

New "Shifts plus" added fees to an existing service? We signed up with Square in part due to the outstanding and easy to use payroll tools that are included in the monthly fees we already pay. Now Square has announced that they are going to change business practices again and start charging for the privilege to use their scheduling, tip pooling, time-card editing services? (Feb, 1, 2023)

I must say, with all the glitches and inaccuracies in the existing system i.e. (We have to redistribute tips by hand since Square usually mis-calculates etc.), it seems outrages that they have decided to gouge the small business owner once again as if we are not having enough problems already, (high food cost margins, supply chain issues etc.).

I hope that we will be able to decline this added surcharge and continue to use Square payroll (Basic service) since the tax prep side is awesome, otherwise we will be looking for a new CC processor and farm payroll to ADP.

@MFNC206 I believe the basic free version of shifts is still part of payroll (clock in and clock out and time card editing).  I think you are limited to only being able to do a schedule 10 days in advance if you don't subscribe to plus.

I have a couple questions that may help, do you have multiple locations?  How many employees are you processing payroll for?  How do you do your tip pool if you have one?

This has jacked up our bill again. We are a small restaurant and now pay over $300 a month, not to include the $20,000 they make on our CC fee's. We do not want it. We use adp. So all we do is download the clock in and outs of employee's. We are now looking into Toast!
