Hi! Curious how you compensate staff. 1099 vs W2? A blend?
Do you offer staff days, benefits, PTO?
TIA
The IRS has pretty firm rules for w2 versus 1099; while we can't give any advise I do know most employees fall under w2. As I have a shop n NY State we are required to offer sick time; our sick time accrues 1 hour for every 30 hour worked (which I believe is state mandated).
We do have a benefit plan but it is $$$ ($1,000 a month for single) and we offer profit sharing 401k.
Hey @Bronze_Palms ! Following up on what @DinaLRosenberg said...
The basic rule of thumb when determining W2 vs 1099: if you give instructions on how you want something done, the person has to be W2. If you tell the person what you want it to look like at the end but do not interfere with how they get there, they can be 1099.
Great advice- I sorta understood it as similar… like the person that makes my social media content- she gets a list of what we need on the macro but we give her no instruction and she does it on her own time… same with our PR person…
