We purchased a business last year and have been operating using the EIN associated with the previous owner. Consequently, our payroll has been reported to the IRS under that old EIN. We now have a new EIN and would like to switch over to using it. Has anyone done this before? Is it as simple as updating the EIN in the Account and Settings: Tax Forms page?

Thank you for your response. I originally saw that article before posting this question, and was about to follow its recommendation. However, I found another article in the help section that says the opposite: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/6767-update-your-ein-on-square-payroll
After talking to two different support specialists on the phone, I could not get a clear answer. I'm confused about which one applies to my situation. I'm only changing the EIN; nothing else about my business has changed, and we are still the same business type (LLC sole proprietorship).
@luuphamif nothing else in your business is changing, you shouldn't have to create a new account (only if you're changing your business type). I would suggest following the first article and just try to update the EIN number without creating any new accounts. If that doesn't work or you get a different instruction by Square, you may have to perform another change in your account.
For other Sellers in a similar situation, I'd think about EIN numbers just like your Social Security number. Each one is unique to a person/business, and you should not use another person or business' EIN number, and protect it just as you would any other identification number.
