Any way to reinstate email from a deactivated team member?

I'm attempting to re-add a previously deleted Team Member, but I'm seeing an error message about the email having already been used.

Hi @wgutheil.  You don’t want to re-add the Team member.  In fact, your don’t WANT to add them again.  I was able to do that once and it caused me a ton of grief that took a one hour phone call to support to sort out!  You just need to rehire them.

 

Go to your Team Members list.  At the top, click on the “Status” pull down and select “Inactive.”  This will show a list of every inactive team member you have ever had.  Find the person you want and click on their name.  Click on the “…” in the upper right corner and select Reactivate Team Member.  You can then make any necessary changes to their information, and you should be good to go.

Super helpful! Thanks so much. Still getting used to all the default filters in the Square dashboard. Makes sense it was only showing me the Active members.

Trust me, I know. Square is usually great about giving us lots of options rather than forcing us to do things a certain way. But with options can sometimes come confusion. Don’t hesitate to reach out as you hit other walls. Most likely we’ve got the bruises on our foreheads to prove we hit them too and can help!

Does this send out an email to the newly reactivated team member?

Not necessarily. It should, in my mind. But I can’t remember how it worked when I did it. Try it. Ask your team member. I rehired all my seasonal team members from last season. As far as I know they all got emails. But I’d recommend following up to be sure. All of mine are active, receiving paychecks, etc.
