I recently switched to Square for my small business, and I’ve run into a problem: my staff can’t search for transactions by item name on the Square register. I can do this on the dashboard and the retail app on my phone, but it doesn’t seem to be an option on the register. Has anyone else encountered this? Any tips for solving it?

I know before Square did not even have this feature to search by item name in a Transaction. So I thought maybe the issue was using POS vs Retail or something. I tried it on the POS app and it worked now. So check to make sure your APP on the Register is up to date.
On my app Square POS is showing version 6.64.1sw and searching by Item name in a Transaction is supported.
So I looked, we're using Square for Retail and we have the latest Version 6.65sw software on our Register, restarted it multiple times. I can search by items in transactions on my phone, iPad, and dashboard, but not on my register.
For the Transaction Receipt #HtXt; did you sell an item Prismware?
I am wondering if Square pulled up this receipt because of the Item Prismware on it but is lower on the receipt that you need to scroll down? Ususally if I type in an Item that is not found I get,no transactions within the last year message.
From the Checkout screen,
Tap Transactions
then in the Search area type Primmware, and then enter or return
see what happens.
I just do not understand why your image is showing a transaction for a search that is unrelated.
I cannot help much why this is a problem on the Register as I use Square Stands which have Ipads in them.
This is why I have not responded earlier but saw your still having issues.
That transaction is unrelated, this odd the transactions screen, on the register the search screen is over to the left and the results pop up under the search bar, where it says no search results.
I do not use the Register I use Square Stands. When I go from Checkout to Transactaions both sides of the Transaction screen are blank, When I do a search the right side does not populate for nor search results which is why I was asking. Now I see this is for you is only on a Register so, I am only guessing there is an error with the App for the register since I can not test this here. You may need to call support or go through the Register Help field instead of the Square for Retail field.

Quick question have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your Square Register? I recommend starting with something as basic as a restart, if that doesn't work I would then recommend login out of the Register, and lastly if all else fails I recommend resetting your register.

Tried a factory reset on the register yesterday and that did not fix the issue either.

Yes we are. Tried restarting the devices and logging out and back in, but it’s still not working.
