I own a square Terminal and want to print receipts from purchase made through any type of payment, including cash. In the pop-up screen for receipts, which can happen by clicking “New Receipt” from a previous transaction, or on completion of a new transaction, I get 3 options for receipts including:
but there is no option for “Print Receipt”. Other forum posts allude to the existence of such button, but it does not exist.
My Square Terminal is connected to my iOS Square POS app. The Terminal itself has the print receipt option turned on and set to manual. The Square Terminal on my POS app does not have an equivalent ON/OFF option in Settings>Hardware>Square Terminal>Checkout. My Square terminal can print test receipts. I have cash enabled as a payment method.
How can I print receipts from my Square Terminal? Is it restricted on the type of account (sole trader) or not?
Hi, @Bradlez ! Welcome to the Square Community!
When using a Square Terminal connected as a customer-facing display with your Square POS on iOS, the Terminal does not act as the printer for receipts initiated from the POS app.
To clarify, you can’t print receipts from the Square Terminal unless the payment was made directly on the Terminal itself. When the Terminal is being used in “customer display” mode with an iPad or iPhone POS app, the receipt printer must be connected to the iOS device, not the Terminal. I'm going to outline some options you have below.
Option 1: Take payments directly on the Terminal (Standalone Mode)
Option 2: Add a receipt printer to your iOS POS setup
This isn’t related to your business type. It’s just how the software assigns printing duties in a multi-device setup.
I hope this clears things up!
