Multiple Location Inventory Pool

Multiple Location Inventory Pool

An option to allow the same inventory pool to be used across multiple locations would be a very helpful feature for anyone who does various local events/markets and would like to offer pickup at those locations. Currently there is no way for me to keep track of my inventory without manually splitting it up between locations. This is just not a realistic way for me to do weekly events and track what I have onhand and what I'm willing to bring with me if someone orders ahead of time. This would additionally aid in tracking for tax purposes when traveling across state lines or city/county lines (which I do often in STL).

This would be so useful!! I am unable to use the inventory feature currently because of this same reason. It’s really a bummer as I have to manually take inventory after each event.

Hello @brumbams & @greenrocksewing ,

Thank you so much for reaching out and providing your insights into the need for this feature. At this moment this is not something our Retail Product Team currently has planned to be implemented. If you know other merchants who need this feature please have them comment and provide their business needs as well on this thread. We will make sure to keep eye on this request and if anything changes we will update it here. We truly appreciate you taking the time to submit this feature, and leting us know how we can make Square inventory better.

@MayaP ;

This is the problem with Square, when you search the forum for Inventory at Multiple locations, you get 14,+++ results.

Going back to 2016 or 2017, that is over 5 yrs and you saying it is still not planned, but Square releases updates and new Screen views to make it eye pleasing I guess but does not help with FUNCTIONS that business owners are looking for.  Most things for business owners is that we look for Functions first not what is eye pleasing for our employees.  The eye pleasing is farther down the list.  Functions, Ease of use, Reliability  are what is more important to us business owners which are Squares customers.

here was my quick search to show you what I mean by how many people have had posts about this topic.

The last update for the Square Stand moved the bottom Checkout Button from one side of the screen to the other....???

This is what Square thought was Important to have in a Update.  I wonder how many posts complained that the Checkout button was on the Right side of the Screen  and needed it moved to the Left for it to be listed as something that needed to be addressed by Squares Technical Department or Update Team?  I did a search and got 20,+++ hits for Payment Types and How to take payments but 0 for people actually complaining that the checkout button needed to be moved from one side to the other.

Its things like this that make me as a business owner Question management at Square for their Ideas on what is Important to the end user or to businesses.

Business owners go to the Ideate page put in things they are looking for and with examples of why this would be useful.  Maybe if the teams at Square would Search the forum instead of just looking at the Responses for an Ideate Topic, they may have an idea on how many other people are looking for this feature and put it on their Planning.  I am not just referring to this topic of Inventory at multiple locations either.  Take sometime one day and do your own searches of Topics in the Ideate and maybe if you mention how many people looked for those exact items in the regular forum, you may even get a promotion or raise for bringing this to their attention since they seem to be blind to what customers actually are looking for in features.

We Would love to see this.

Hi,

We have a bookstore with a large inventory, but a big part of inventory is overstock that we keep in our large basement, which functions as a warehouse/second inventory location. Since we use the Square Retail POS to add and/or create inventory when it is delivered, the two features that would be extremely helpful to have on the Square Retail POS for us are:

  1. When receiving new inventory, be allowed to have a dropdown menu listing all locations. This way, one can assign X items to Location A and X items to Location B, if the delivery needs to be broken up and stored in different locations. This dropdown list should always default to the main location, which one should be able to set up.
  2. Since we have thousands of different items - all with different SKUs - in the main location, we cannot be on top of every item that is "sold out" in the main location but is still available in the secondary location. A very helpful feature would be to enable instant alerts that inform you of "Out of stock" status for an item in main location, but at the same time let's you know that item is available in the secondary location. This way, whoever is at the Retail POS handling a transaction is immediately alerted and can quickly replace and restock the missing item in the main location. This alert would not apply for items that once sold are out of stock in all locations, since this is not a problem that can be immediately resolved. For this the existing Low Stock Alert feature works well.

Thank you!

Nicola

Hey there, @IAMBooksBoston -

I moved your post to an existing thread where another seller has mentioned a similar Feature Request.

Keep an eye for any notifications if the status should change on this request.

Thank you!

I too am looking for this feature. It would be extremely helpful to be able to enter my total inventory and then have each location pull from the central inventory list. As it is now, I would have to manually enter and continually update inventory totals into each location and under each individual item if I am going to keep accurate track of my inventory totals. That would be extremely time consuming and as we all know time is money!

It seems to me that this would be considered a fundamental function of this software. I am truly surprised this feature does not exist. I do hope this feature is considered a higher priority and slated for implementation soon.

Thank you,

Sharon

This would be extremely helpful for taking items from the shop out to a local event and then bringing back whatever doesn't sell.

We need an overstock, storage and/or warehouse option.

I have 3 locations and a warehouse/ overstock location. No Retail sales go in and out just transfers or adding new product.
We are a fireworks seasonal business and everything gets transferred back to the warehouse location at the end of the season.
Our distributor offered a free POS system for the past year so we left square for their system and it was awful!! It was NOT user friendly.

Our biggest issue here was after we added 100 products into inventory the sales and bogo like stuff was glitching out. It just wouldn’t appear at certain locations. And in the beginning I didn’t track cost of goods so when I finally added the feature I would pull the reports and it would cause errors due to the old sales not having cost of goods.

Since then we added a warehouse. I’m just not real sure how to proceed.

So we are back and hopefully the sales glitch and inventory cogs issue is better but I need to know how to do this and want to see this option in the future if it’s not already here!

Please add a warehouse/storage/overstock location.

There are no retail sales out of this location. It is just transfer and received products. This would be extremely helpful.

We currently have three locations plus a warehouse and I need to be able to transfer in and out of the warehouse only.
