How to prevent double-booked sales tax from UberEats sales due to the new integration with Square?

Hi, I'm having an issue with the new UberEats integration with Square. If UberEats is still collecting and remitting sales tax on delivery orders that's facilitated through its platform as required by law, then the gross amount recorded in Square's sales reports should exclude the UberEats sales tax. Right now, it doesn't look like that's happening, which is leading to sales tax being double-booked.

As of now, I'm having to manually adjust my company's sales tax liability amount every month to account for UberEat's sales tax that they've already collected and remitted internally. Is there any updates on this or a working solution that's more effective than what I'm currently doing? Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hi, @rebelteahouse !

At this time, Square’s direct integration with UberEats doesn’t automatically separate or adjust the tax that UberEats collects and remits on their side, so manual reconciliation is still required. I know that’s far from ideal, especially when you’re trying to close your books accurately each month.

I’d recommend keeping an eye on any product updates in your Square Dashboard and the Integration settings, as this is something our product team is aware of and improvements may be planned. In the meantime, your approach of adjusting your tax liability manually is unfortunately still the necessary workaround.

If you haven’t already, it might help to export your sales detail report, filter for UberEats orders, and cross-check those amounts with your UberEats payout reports so you can back out the tax portion more efficiently.

I know this wasn't the answer you were looking for, but I'm hoping it provides some clarity!
