@carriemh78 I'm going to list some different things to try. If none of this works, please let me know by using the "@" when you are replying and I will escalate this to our engineers.

Quick Fix Steps:

  1. Reset Terminal Connection:

    • Power off your Terminal (hold power button for 3 seconds)
    • Wait 30 seconds
    • Power it back on
    • Ensure it's connected to WiFi
  2. Check Square App:

    • Force close the Square app
    • Clear app cache
    • Reopen the app
    • Go to Settings > Hardware to check again
  3. Verify Network:

    • Ensure Terminal and main device are on the same WiFi network
    • Check WiFi signal strength
    • Try forgetting and reconnecting to WiFi network
  4. Re-pair Terminal:

    1. On your Terminal:
      • Go to Settings
      • Select "Reset Connection"
      • Follow prompts to re-pair
    2. On your main device:
      • Go to Settings > Hardware
      • Select "Connect Hardware"
      • Choose "Square Terminal"
      • Follow pairing instructions

If Still Not Working:

  1. System Check:

    • Verify Terminal has latest firmware
    • Check main device's Square app is updated
    • Ensure both devices have strong internet connection
  2. Network Troubleshooting:

    • Reset your WiFi router
    • Try connecting to a mobile hotspot temporarily
    • Check if other devices can connect

Hello @carriemh78 !

Interesting! You are the second person I've seen today that's reporting that your Square Terminal isn't a hardware option on your main device. Two in one day kind of worries me.

First thing to check would be that your device itself is fully updated--not just the app but the OS itself. After that, try signing out then back in to that device to see if you get the option to connect a Square Terminal to your device again.

@Summer2024Two in one day... could this be something more than just a hardware connection glitch?

I figured it out!! Yesterday when I went to my pos app on my phone it prompted me to choose a "mode" and I must have picked the wrong one...it switched the whole layout at checkout as well.   Took me awhile to figure out how to switch the mode back to the original but I did and now the terminal shows back up👍

@carriemh78  Modes! I completely forgot about modes! I'm glad that it was something that "easy" to fix! I'll have to remember to add mode checking to future troubleshooting steps!
