Assign Item Commission to Categories & Specific Items

Assign Item Commission to Categories & Specific Items

I would like to have the option to assign Item Commission to specific Categories & individual Items.

I own a Body Piercing Studio & Boutique Store and I pay each of my Body Piercers a Commission on their Services & a Commission for Body Jewelry Sales.

At the moment I have Service Commission set up on their Body Piercing Services and by using their 4 digit code for each sale, the end of day report shows which Body Piercer made Commission, tips, etc... it's a brilliant system. *Edit on Service Commission... see below*

However, to assign Item Commission to Categories & or individual Items, isn't possible  which we would really benefit from.

My Piercers earn Commission on Body Jewelry Sales only. I also sell handmade items such as candles, necklaces & numerous other specialty handmade items crafted by me that my Body Piercers do not receive Commission on.

I do have one Body Piercer who makes Commission on Body Jewelry & one specific Candle line because she helps me make that line of Candles. She does not recieve Commission on the other dozens of candles & items I craft.

As of now, assigning Item Commission automatically gives my Body Piercers Commission on every handmade item sold in my Boutique Store as well as Body Jewelry.

Please make Item Commission customizable with an option to select specific Categories & individual Items so I can assign Item Commission to Body Jewelry Categories only.

Assigning Item Commission on individual Items would be helpful as well. So that I can assign an Item Commission to a candle that one of my Body Piercers helps me make.

The work around may be something such as creating a 4 digit universal code that isn't assigned to any specific person, but that would require my clients being forced to make two separate transactions if they had a Piercing Service, purchased Body Jewelry, and purchased a Candle.  So that isn't ideal.

Thank you for reading my suggestion! I absolutely love Square & I appreciate how much the designers/engineers listen to feedback from their users!

*Edit on Service Commission*

I set up Commission on Services, and spent hours on setting up the Services Categories so that the Piercings are listed as services and not items under each Piercers Category. I was so excited... however, I had to revert back to listing my Piercers & their Piercing varieties as "Items" in their own Categories with their names.

Even with individual Pins the end of day Sales Report does not show who did the Services, nor does it show their tips. The Square Team app does not show their Commission either.  So we still have to scroll through the transactions list to see who did what that day...

This would be great! We also own a space that includes a gallery, tattoo studio, piercings, and event space.

In my head, I would think that Square could make a toggle to allow that specific item eligible for commission i.e. a painting sold could be eligible for commission but a tattoo aftercare item is not. They could keep the current "Commission on items" and one can choose a flat rate percentage per team member or a tiered commission based on team member sales sales.

I'm by far a developer or an engineer but I hope my idea could spark someone at Square's R&D department to create a code to make this possible.

Thank you all at Square headquarters for your time and consideration

We also pay higher commissions on base services than on add-ons or product charges. This would be very helpful.

This! I have a space that sells kitchenwares and we also have a wine bar + offer cooking classes. I am paying my sommelier a commission on Beer & Wine items she sells, but she will sometimes ring up a spatula or olive oil or something else in the same purchase. Would be so great if I could just give her a % of "Beer & Wine" category items only. Square please make doable 🙂

Category-toggles for commissions is something we need too.
