Morning! I'm setting up square for a coffee shop, and want my POS to prompt for the customer's name when they're ordering. I have Order Tickets set to manual and I can't find any place where it'd let me enter a name (except for using the Add Customer functionality, but I don't want to add a full customer). I do not have a ticket printer, nor do I want to add one - we want to stay fully digital.
I'm hoping I'm just missing a quick setting of some sort?
the add a customer is the intended way of adding a customer to an order. you could use open tickets to just add a name when you save it, but then you would have to reopen the ticket for payment. you could add it in the notes field on one of the drinks. I do not see a way to make a name be ordered with a popup. @TheRealChipA you have any ideas?
Hey @jdevelvis. Hopefully this is as simple as just a misplaced expectation. Once you have the Order Tickets set to manual (which means that you’ll enter a name or something instead of sPOS automatically assigning an order number), then after you either press the Save Ticket button or you press the Charge button, then a screen will pop up to enter the customer name for the transaction. I’m attaching a video showing how it works on mine. If that doesn’t help, let me know and we’ll dig a little deeper.
not sure how big a video you uploaded but apparently Square doesn't like it as it is still "processing" 3 days later.
Very weird. it was short. 30 seconds maybe. I’ll have to try again.
@TheRealChipA - Yes! Prompting for a name after I hit Charge sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Even with Order Tickets set to manual, however, it skips the name and displays the payment screen. Maybe there's another setting that's required that I missed?
Your video says it's still being processed, even though it's been 50 minutes. Not sure why.
@jdevelvis Hmmm. That is strange. I’m not aware of another setting. I’m starting to suspect that you should call customer support. This is sounding like a register issue but I can’t be sure since I don’t use register. The POS software should be basically the same, though. Hopefully someone there can help. There was some weirdness with the latest Register update. This might be part of that.
I’ll do a little deeper but it sounds like you’re set up correctly.
