Can't search for variations in app or Register

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Can't search for variations

 

Hi all! I have several items that have variations, i.e. a winemaker/producer (item) and several wines from the same winemaker/producer as variations (variations). This way I can have more control on the inventory and find bottles more easily when searching.

 

However, I can search for the variation just fine on the computer side of things, but all my hardware (register, phone/iPad apps) and Terminal fall short when looking for a variation and yield no result.

 

For example: Marto / Crazy Crazy (producer / variation)

 

If I look for Marto, all my hardware and software is horizontally finding the result.

But, if I look for Crazy Crazy, only the website produces the result, everything else says "no result"

 

Why is this feature not shared by all applications/hardware?

 

Is there a setting I'm missing?

 

My friend has a similar setup in his wine shop and he's able to search for variations.

 

Any help?

I just tried this on my Ipad, and I have a Variation Wax Melts for all my 160 plus items.  When I typed in Wax in the search box on my Ipad, it found more results than fit on the screen and I had to scroll.  I also then tried this for Shea to get the images below.

 

So lets start at the Basics, are your systems up to date for both the operating system and the Square app?

Which App are you using ( retail or just POS) ?  Not sure if the Search results vary as I am using the Retail app.

 

Do you have a Screen shot of how your Items are setup in Square?

 

So Square for Retail is pulling up Variation Names on an Ipad not just item names.  

 

When I search for Shea on my Ipad any Item or Variation of an Item that has Shea in the name bolds the Search item of Shea.

Here is what my PC looks like for Shea Butter as a Variation of the African Black Soap..... you can see the SKU is the same.

I do not have any special setting set that I am aware of to search through Variations vs Item names only.  

For me the Item Name is African Black Soap and the Variation is Shea Butter.

Square Register 6.64sw, most up to date version. But any other hardware I use has the same issue. The variation search works ONLY on the computer.

 

I can't add images here on the phone looks like. I'll add later when home...

 

Marto (item) with two variations (crazy crazy & frauenpower)

 

Searching for "crazy" yields NO result

Hello @AuroraStudio 👋

 

Since @Candlestore kindly tested this on their end, I was able to escalate as a possible bug. 

It will take some time for the team to find a resolution, since they work on multiple escalations in the order in which they are received, but I'll keep a eye out for any updates and let you know once I hear from them.
