Squares technical difficulties

Lately it seems that squares system has been having several technical difficulties. I ran into a situation yesterday where I had a walk-in customer and charged them and the system showed that the payment was processed. This morning I woke up to an error message saying that due to a technical difficulty at square the payment Was actually unable to be processed. I reached out to customer support today and they were not helpful at all and instead of giving me any actual solutions ended up ending the chat with me much to my frustration. Has anyone else experienced these errors? I find it a little shocking that after using this app for 10 years and processing hundreds of thousands of dollars The company can be so inconsiderate to a customer over $145

I am sorry this has happened to you, and sorry to say  without proof of the transacation it ends up being your word it happened vs Square showing there is no data of said transaction.  

When I see any warning that Square is having issues, sometimes this is on the POS and other times I check issquareup.

In either case, I print out a Receipt.  If no receipt is able to be printed then the payment most likely did not go through.  I have seen this happen 2 or 3 times since being with Square since 2019.  Square needs Proof of the Transaction, either from your Transactions History or the ability to look at the Receipt # to try to track down the actual transaction.  If you do not have either of these, then the reason the transaction did not go through could be Human error at the time of sale, accedentally pressing Cancel instead of Tender for example.  Now over last summer there was a news story in California I believe where Customer had something on their device to make Square POS look as though the transacation was approved but ended up changing the transaction from Credit Card to Cash.  The scammer never wanted a Receipt, because then the clerk may see that it was a Cash and not the Credit Card transaction.  This was not limited to Square, and have seen other reports of this happening to other small businessies using other Credit card acceptance methods.  

 

With no proof on your part of the Transaction actually happening, there is no way for Square to see it on their end.  So when the Red error appears that Square is having issues Get proof of the Transaction with a Receipt, I actually turn on another receipt printer to print receipts always.  At the end of the day, get the recipts, put them in a folder, and save them till I get my funds.  Then I use these as Fire starters mixed in with my candle wax.  With everything being online and throught the internet Hackers around the world are trying to steal anything and everything through the internet.
