Website - won't accept card payments

My website has gone live, but when we have done a test run for payment methods, Paypal works. However if we put in a credit card number as the payment option, it says "This card is invalid. Please use another payment method or try again." except the card is not invalid and the details entered are correct. 

I've checked my settings for payments and Square is showing as active.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your website. Can you send through a link to your website so I can take a closer look? It's also worth checking that the item you're adding to your cart are above $1, as that would be the minimum charge for a credit, or debit card with Square. Looking forward to hearing back from you!
