Hello! I am opening a second location of my fabric shop about 20 minutes from my original one. To maximize the online store inventory I would like to offer ALL items (no matter location) on the one website. This way, customers can choose from 40+ colors of one item vs. 20+, etc. The idea would be they'd order online for shipping or pickup (can choose location for pickup) and then we would have an internal process where we fill what we have in one store then take to the other to finis and ship/have ready for pickup.
Is this possible with Square? If not, has anyone found any work-arounds? I've seen people post that you can make a separate online store with everything listed but that would totally screw up in-person inventory and we get enough online orders that it wouldn't make sense to have to update in-store inventory. Thanks!
Hello @domesticity thanks for your post, and congrats for your new location! You can specify where you sell your items when you create/edit an inventory item. So if you have Store #1, Store #2, and Online all set as locations, when you manage your items, you can check boxes to show where you want to have them available for sale. If you want to sell them everywhere, just check all the boxes. Here are some details:

I hope this helps you manage your inventory better. Good luck to you! Let us know if you need more assistance with this issue, we'll be happy to help.
Thank you so much @HC_Charlie! My understanding though with that is I would have to have a different inventory for the “Online” location just as I would have to have different inventories for Location #1 and Location #2 (which makes sense because they’d have different physical counts). If I did it this way and had online as a third location, if I’m correct about the inventory, I’d have to put a fake inventory amount in for online and then reconcile the real inventory with each location each time items are ordered. Is that correct? I’m really hoping that it would just group all real time inventory numbers at the two locations and pull from the inventory on hand at either one.
@domesticity check this article about transferring stock from different locations. You'd have to manually adjust your levels as items sell, and transfer items from different locations if you run out.
As far as the online inventory, if you set to zero and hope to pull from the store inventories, you wouldn't be able to sell online (as they would be marked out of stock). You can set your inventory online to the TOTAL available in store, but if you made an online sale, you have to quickly pull those items from the floor at your physical locations so you wouldn't be oversold (if that makes sense). And then adjust inventory for the store locations once the online sale happens.
Please note I don't personally use multiple locations, so there may be a better solution that combines online and in-store inventories. Perhaps another seller in the Community that does manage multiple locations can add some help here.
