When will Square Online support custom product URLs without ID strings?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: URLs are messy and unprofessional, when will Square invest in a clean option?

Hi Square team,

I’ve noticed that Square Online automatically gives long ID strings to product URLs, making them look messy and unprofessional. This has been a disappointing realisation as a new Square customer. I’ve seen people raising this here for a few years with no resolution, it’s now 2025 and the URLs are still unprofessional. Is Square ever planning to modernise this basic ecommerce feature? 

Please give us the option to use clean product URLs without IDs or tracking parameters. At the very least, the clean slug should resolve instead of giving a 404. 

This change would make Square Online stores far more professional and SEO-friendly. 

You’d think with Square’s resources and with business model built around enabling online sales that are easy, clean, and seamless, this would be a feasible update by now.

Currently, while you can customise the URLs of certain pages through the Site Editor's Page settings, there isn't an option to modify the Shop All page product and category URLs directly at this time.

We’d love it if you would add your support to this active feature request where we are currently tracking feedback for this type of functionality. Our Product Teams actively monitors threads on the Ideate board, making it the most effective place to highlight the need for this capability. 

There are a variety of factors that are taken into account for feature requests, including Seller interest and our development pipeline. By sharing your support on an existing feature request or creating your own, you encourage other Sellers to support it with their votes and comments, which highlights demand to our Product team.
