Events, Free And WIthout Items

Please provide a process to have a scheduled event without a fee/ticket or requiring it to be attached to an item. Similarly, if I attempt to do an email campaign to promote a free event at my store I cannot remove the Item section. I should not be required to include an item in that email campaign.

Can you clarify this a bit more? Are you trying to create a free event under Items > Site Items, or are you just trying to create a marketing email alerting customers about an upcoming event? Are you having difficulties displaying the event on your website?

Sorry for all the questions, but are these events that do not require registration, or for you to not know the total number of people attending?

Also would love to see this—I was really surprised to find out this can't be done! Our store plans to have tons of events that are free but require RSVPing / getting a free ticket, and we'd rather not have to use a bunch of third-party apps to accomplish everything we need to accomplish with Square. If I try to create a free event (price $0) it says I must add a price in order for it to display. 

Hopefully this is functionality that can be implemented soon!

@MPDC I have recently attempted to do the same thing. The only way to accomplish what you want it to set the price (e.g., $1.00) and then list the Online Price at $0.00. This will only work for events listed in the Events section of the Square Online website. If you try to use a payment link, the Online Price is ignored and payment is required.

I, too, find it frustrating that we must venture out to third-party vendors for a service that seems so simplistic to implement (at least from someone with no knowledge of the Square code base/structure).

When I wanted to add events to my square site (I do Farmers Markets mostly, I don't really have a set physical location otherwise) it forces me to create an event item in order to list the event. I don't have event items, all of my items are event items?? Like, this is odd. Also, these events are always free to the public. I'm not hosting concerts here..

Did this get resolved? I would like to host a free workshop but can only have 40 people sign up. I tried to make an Event but cannot because of the $0 price.

I also want to list an event on my website and not have it tied to an item or the ability to link it out. I do events that I want to post that are a. FREE and b. In collaboration and payment is collected elsewhere. I would be good with just being able to post that an event is happening with no pay button but I need it to be listed within all my events. Like have the option to display it even if I check Not for sale.

I just noticed this too. It's unfortunate because letting customers know about the events where there will be product sales help create credit card transactions though Square at the event so Square Up can collect the credit card fees. I hope they change it back soon so we can list events that cost $0 to attend.
