Automatic open/close for online ordering

My website should be able to receive online orders ONLY when my store is open. I continue to receive orders outside of normal business hours, so I have to contact my customers at my inconvenience and refund them (hope they aren’t upset and standing at the door) and then eat the processing charge which I still have to pay for. We did almost $500,000 in sales last year and are looking to triple that this year with 2 more locations. If this doesn’t get fixed immediately I will have to switch companies. I don’t have time to toggle on and off ordering every day and night.

What you have in mind would be considered a Feature Request for future consideration, if enough people want the same thing, it's possible.  Square's online web sites are either on or off - I don't think that the Restaurant Business was ever considered for that feature which does make sense.  For many of us in the retail world, it's not something that would be considered but, it does make sense for food world.  It looks like there may be a 3rd party solution, just something to look into.

There is an existing feature that does this.
From your Square online dashboard, go down to your fulfillment settings.
Click pickup and delivery. You can see your settings by location. Hit edit.

 

The settings you want to check are "Do you start preparing orders as soon as they are received? "
This setting is for based on prepping orders as they come in throughout the day, versus batch prepping all orders at once.

 

The next setting to check is "When do you plan to fulfill orders?"

Make sure this setting matches your operational hours. My shop closes at 3pm, and we have it set to stop accepting new orders 15 minutes before close.

 

Some other things to check:

Under general dashboard settings, make sure your open hours are set correctly. The Online store will use this to tell your customers when you're open and closed.

If you have an Online Plus plan, you can adjust which items appear at certain times by category. In my shop, we use this to only display breakfast items from 7-11, and lunch items from 11-3. After 3pm, the website starts showing that we are closed and will ask if they want to order from the breakfast menu on the following morning.

@Honeycombbread yes, my hours all match. I have never been open on Sundays since we opened, and yet I still receive orders on Sundays? So I’m not sure what’s going on- I wish it would ask my customers when placing an order after hours if they would like to place an order for the next day when we open, but I’ve never been given this option. I’ve talked to square directly and they told me they don’t have this feature?
