Add item to existing online order

I had a customer ask me to add an item to an order she had just placed and completed on my online store.  She texted me and asked if I could add the item to her order on the back end using her card she already has on file and used to pay for this order. 

 

I could not find a way to do that and the chat support Live person said it was not an available feature.   This would be a very helpful feature.

It would an option to be considered - right now as Support stated, it's not something you can do.  You could consider cancelling the order and doing a refund and have the customer reorder.  The downside of doing that would be that you would still have to pay the transaction processing fee however, your customer will get their entire amount refunded.  Other than that, maybe you can ask your customer to place a second order.  As for your suggestion - you can submit a Feature Request.

While I'm speculating here, this might  be a bit of a payment security issue, as customers don't agree to have their card details stored for future purchases when they order an item on a website. You can store a customer's card on file for Square Invoices if they sign a customer authorization form. This is to protect both you, and your customer from disputes and chargebacks.
