How well do your customers respond to the loyalty program. I'm thinking of using it. Also, is it best to us a star per dollar or maybe a star per $5? What type of incentives do you give customers?
Hello @Tms10 thanks for your post. I've been using Loyalty in my gift shop for the past several years. Some people really take advantage of it, and you can send emails and text to encourage visits if you also use those features. Other people are less interested in it, so it depends on the person. But overall I think it's a great program to help engage customers.
I found that setting up the rewards so my customers get a few points or stars (whatever you choose to call them) per purchase the best way to encourage them to signup and keep shopping. I have my customers earn 1 "punch" (digital punch card I call it) for every $10 they spend. My average purchase is about $30, so if I have a first time customer at the register and it shows up on the Square Register customer facing screen that they just earned three punches, and ask if they want to sign up, most will say yes. Seeing those three punches and risk loosing them encourages them to sign up. You also have the option to send a text to people just signed up where they can earn an additional point/star/punch if they submit their email address. (This is awesome to build your list!!!)
As far as incentives, I offer different levels. Customers can redeem punches for 3, 5, 7, and 10 punches. My rewards are respectively a free greeting card, mini chocolate bar, goats milk soap bar, or 10% off their purchase. I'm exploring a new reward where they can turn in their 10 punches and the store will donate $10 to a chosen charity cause. For more info about Loyalty programs check out this post.
You really can design a great loyalty program specifically tailored to your customers; just take some time and figure out your rewards and how you want to encourage earnings; you can set your rewards to earn based on total purchase price, or just number of visits to your business rather than a dollar amount. Depends on your kind of business. I'm sure some other sellers will also drop some notes on your post about what has worked best for their businesses. I hoped this info helped in getting you to think more about your own loyalty program with Square. Happy selling!
We use Square Loyalty and after 10 stars the customer get's a 10% discount
Sometimes to bring back lapsed customers I award them stars and send them the update
Works very well as my loyalty customers spend double what non loyalty customers spend
René
Since January (When I started using Square Loyalty) I've had 472 customers sign up for our loyalty program.
I offer 10% towards future purchases starting off at $5 off for spending $50 or more.
Loyalty customers are spending on average $78.60 per visit while non-loyalty customers are spending on average $42.40 per visit.
In order to get more sign ups I stress that we don't abuse the marketing systems and over-do it (we all know those companies that send multiple emails a day)
When in doubt keep it simple and your clientele will appreciate it.
Square loyalty combined with the rest of Square's features makes it incredibly easy to build a business that can thrive.
