Referral Program - URGENTLY NEEDED

As a small business, word of mouth & rewards for positive reviews are vital. 

A Referral Program is urgently required and should be a simple expansion of the current loyalty program. 

It would be amazing if a unique code could be provided to my customers (via email,text or even on their receipt) to be shared with their friends & family & then tracked through square.

This is a basic necessity in todays world. Shocked to find out a company that relays heavily on referrals doesn’t offer a referral program for my clients.

You provided a great assessment on the potential business use/need for something like this on our platform from a seller’s perspective. This is a useful tool for our Product Team to use as they build the future of our products. Yea and when asked why we as small businesses need it and Proof of Use case etc.... Point out that Square has a Referral program for its customers (us businesses).  Square even has the option to have a Referral link so we can get $1000 of free processing but we can not do this for OUR customers.  

I'm just about to submit a request but thought I'd let you know that Smile.io has a referral program for your website but it doesn't communicate with Square. I built on Wix but it has more functions on Shopify. You can give more points for sharing links on Facebook and Twitter and others.

How is this not a feature in 2023???

Yeah im a little disappointed myself. They are also trying to give out alternative options within the LOYALTY PROGRAM which I'm sorry to tell them is NOT the same thing as a  REFERRAL PROGRAM.... Square uses a referral program themselves to get more Square users, yet leave us in the dark on how to accomplish this ourselves for OUR customers. So if I've missed something between 2017 when this was first brought up till now in 2024, please direct me to the exact instructions on how to set up the CUSTOMER REFERRAL PROGRAM FOR OUR CUSTOMERS, not to bring more users to Square.

After creating a new customer profile that includes the name/number of a referring customer, you can manually add loyalty points to the referring customer's profile.

@Katie_SQ for your suggestion. However after this request has been raised mulitple times by many many users, it is deplorable that square is still lacking. 

Ontop of that, how are small retailers able to easily (& efficiently) manually add special codes for each one different for every customer walking in the fron door? Your suggestion, (as helpful as it's intended) is just as ludicrous as the timeline Square has taken to deliver something so necessary to it's paying customers & users. "
