Problem marking invoice as paid. Working on a MacBook Pro with Safari and Firefox. Page appears grayed out with payment or dismiss options but disappears completely when I try to make a selection,.
This worked fine last month. I can mark invoices paid and dismiss them on my phone, but I'd rather work on my laptop for a lot of things. Both Safari and Firefox show the same problem. Everything else seems to work in invoices section.
I thought maybe it was a popup problem, but I set the browser to allow popups for Squareup and that did not solve the problem.
Thanks for flagging this, @hoodleycreek! Sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this issue.
Since you are still able to mark invoices as paid on your mobile device, I recommend that you try the following troubleshooting steps on your MacBook Pro to see if this helps to resolve the issue for you:
Please let us know how you go!
Have you tried using an incognito mode with either of those browsers by chance ?
No, I'm not privately browsing on those and nothing has changed in my setup. It just quit working but still works on the iPhone app just fine. And everything else about invoices works on the MacBook.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am currently setting up a new MBP with latest Sonoma and all three browsers, but it will take a bit because the transfer of over 6 million files from my Mojave backup is taking awhile.
I've had to freeze my older MBP computer at Mojave due to some important legacy creative software that will break if I upgrade it. Nearly everything works with Mojave, but the Microsoft apps have been complaining so I knew it was only a matter of time before I had to bite the bullet and set up the MBP that's been sitting in the box for a few months (I was really dreading it...with good reason. My internal drive is 2TB). Anyway I'll check the problem on the new MBP with all the latest when I have that.
I did, however, download a new version of Chrome, a browser that I don't like very much, probably because I don't trust Google to translate well to other things. Ever try importing that Google spreadsheet into Excel? Blocks of white missing grid lines. Kind of a nightmare for those of us who really need to share spreadsheets and print them.
However, Square Invoice payment and dismissal worked perfectly under Chrome, so that's a workaround on the older MBP. Thanks for the suggestion.
I'll post about Safari and Firefox under Sonoma when I get that running.
Still wondering what went wrong with Firefox and Safari under Mojave, but I'll keep tinkering with those. I know Square did a big upgrade last week. It wreaked havoc with a lot of people trying to sell at the farmer's market. We were just running sales from the iPhone and texting/emailing receipts for 45 minutes while our printer/card swipe/tap/insert box struggled to stay online long enough to reset. And we were one of the lucky ones because we have a powered booth. People who only had an old iPhone with the headphone jack swiper were just telling customers cash only.
Thanks again!
KK
very weird but I am running safari and I have the ability to take payment on my MacBook and have all most recent upgrades. Did you do the obvious and restart your computer?
Invoices remain broken under Mojave with Firefox and Safari! Yes I have done all the things...started beta testing on an IBM 360 with SPSS in 1968...I've been dealing with broken sw for decades.
With my new computer, fresh install of SONOMA, newest versions of Firefox and Safari:
Safari works. Firefox is still broken for taking payment for invoices. This is not surprising, BTW, Firefox is apparently broken under Sonoma in a lot of areas. I haven't tried Chrome but I assume it works. I'll be sticking with Safari since it's the Apple preferred browser. I just used to love Firefox's clear password organization and apparently that's broken for a lot of apps under Sonoma, too bad.
Still keeping my legacy MBP Mojave for a couple of Adobe things that don't run under Sonoma, like legacy Acrobat Pro which actually solved a corrupt font error for Square a while back! It pointed right to the font and that fix was implemented so quickly a lot of people never got bitten by it. Thanks, Square!
So if you are still running Mojave on a Mac, I guess the solution is to run Chrome if you want Square invoices to work for taking payments. At least that's what works on my Mojave rig. I've heard good things about Opera and I may try that.
just wanted to chime in and say the same thing is happening to me. Shadowed screen and inability to mark as paid while on a desktop. Thankfully I saw this thread and was reminded to record payments on the app haha I've had outstanding invoices for days now and it's been pretty frustrating not being able to get the customer their receipts.
Are you on a Mac also? Just curious. Nice to know I'm not crazy, LOL!
