Keep transfers to linked bank account, not square checking

Hi!

I recently opened a square checking account. Now all my transfers for the day are going to that instead of my linked bank account. I would still like them to go to my linked bank account automatically at the end of each day, not default to square checking. How do I change it?

It looks like the original post was auto-cleared from our queues, unfortunately. We moderators do everything in our power to respond to threads without answers, but occasionally we do miss a few. 😕

💡 You can edit which bank your transfers are sent to by following this guide. 

I'm not super familiar with Square Checking, but I can reach out to the team to see if this is an expected action, or if maybe there is a setting that was missed (or checked as default) when signing up for the service. 

Please let me know if you are unable to update your bank information, or if you continue to see those transfer being sent to your Square Checking account.

Thank you for the reply! Updating my bank account information only changes which external account I'm linked to but doesn't seem to change the fact that nightly deposit options have disappeared. 😢

Get Started with Square Checking Transfers 

Once you’ve signed up for Square Checking, your transfers will switch from automatic to manual. Funds you earn will accrue in your Square Checking balance.

You will still be able to transfer your funds from your balance to your linked bank account at any time, either next business day, or with instant transfers with a 1.5% fee per transfer.

To transfer funds out of your Square Checking balance to your linked bank account:

• Open your Square app, navigate to Balance, and tap Transfer to Bank.
• Enter the amount you want to transfer.
• Choose a transfer speed. You can use next-business-day transfer, or instant transfer .
• Confirm your transfer.

I just realized that this still doesn't solve for having the transfers automatically deposited to the linked bank. 🤔 The support article makes it sound like any transfer you make would need to be manually actioned by you. 

I will need to confirm with the team when they are back in the office this week. I will let you know if this is intended behavior, and if there's any plans to change it.

There are so many great options for Square Savings that could perhaps double as features within Checking. Savings allows certain percentages of daily sales to transfer while the rest goes to external account, setting savings goals, creating folders, etc.

Maybe we could set percentages of daily sales to remain in Checking and the remainder goes to the external account, just as an example.

I love that the balance is available instantly, so I'd like to keep using Square Checking and have funds remain in Checking Friday - Sunday to eliminate weekend transfer delays, for example, but still schedule automatic transfers to external on a normal Monday - Thursday schedule.

Thank you for the additional feedback. I was able to confirm with the team that transfers from Square Checking must be manually initiated at this time, however, the feature is something the team is looking into adding in the upcoming new year.😊

I am in the same boat. I just contacted customer service and they told me that now that I have the Square checking account, I can no longer have auto transfers to my linked account. But only for my physical location. I have 2 mobile locations and they have auto transfers to my linked account. WTH?
