There should be an option to deposit cash into the checking account when we receive cash payments

You can deposit cash into your Sq Checking accounts!

From your point of sale on your phone - this will not work from a tablet - head to your Balance section at More -> Balance. Tap Add money then Cash Deposit. Follow the steps to find participating merchants and get a bar code the merchant scans. 
I’ve used this a few times (and a lot with CashApp!) and it is an instant deposit to your account.
