Is there a way to refund directly to customers credit card from a egift card dispute?

I recently had a dispute filed against me for an e gift card purchase. Back in December I turned off the option to purchase an e gift card and I believe when my plan changed from paid to free, the option was automatically turned back on. With Square I am not notified of gift card purchases. My balance just increasing and I have to go digging for the transaction.

my question is, is there a way to refund directly to customers credit card? I know I can refund once appointment ends but didn’t see the option to refund for an e gift card. I don’t want to go through the dispute process. Would rather get it over with ASAP.

Also, has anyone else had issues with the e gift card option turning back on without your consent? It’s truly a hassle!!

I'm sorry to hear about the dispute with the e-gift card purchase. To resolve this quickly, you can issue a refund directly to the customer's credit card. While the option to refund e-gift cards directly may not be available, you can process the refund for the e-gift card purchase amount to the customer's credit card outside of the Square platform. This can be done through your payment processor or by manually processing the refund through your merchant account.

Regarding the issue of the e-gift card option turning back on without your consent, I recommend reaching out to Square support directly. They can investigate and help ensure your settings remain as you intend, preventing any future hassles.

Let me know if you need further assistance!

You're also able to refund an e gift card back as well.  I'm going to leave a helpful link below:
