Visible & Hidden are only online options

it seems that the unavailable option has been taken away from square online- leaving only visible and hidden.

The issue seems that everything that was previously marked unavailable has been made visible. I am looking at items I know I made unavailable and now they are all hidden.

This is incredibly frustrating- there are times when items "sell out" but show maybe 1 or 2 items in inventory. Instead of fixing the inventory amount we (especially if we're in the middle of a transaction on the selling floor as we are both online & retail) we mark the item unavailable. Now all those items (there are 100s) are marked live to the website.

WHY??!! Why would this be done without asking the actually users how we use the function and why not inform us this would be happening?

I'm now looking at having to spend the next countless hours going back through 1000s of inventory items and resetting the website. This is so freaken frustrating!!!!

Jumping in to add an additional impact ... we use 'unavailable' to filter for items not listed on the website.  It is an easy way for my staff to identify what needs to be added to our online store.  The filter menu has been a great addition but removing the available/unavailable filter will cause much more work.

Also adding we have merchandise our vendors do not allow us to add to our online store.  Any background changes that automatically adds items to our website puts us in violoation of those agreements.

We have that also, some items we can sell in person, but not online. I just checked and ours hasn't changed thankfully.

Hey @Twiggy - I kindly ask to keep it constructive here in the lounge. We're still investigating what happened, and please keep in mind that many times our Eng teams review threads in the community to gain an understanding of how an issue is impacting Sellers. We do not want to display that our Champions name call, especially when 99.9% that doesn't happen. I deeply empathize that this has got to be wildly frustrating and we'll get to the bottom of these. You're heard, I promise.. Thank you!

Every description on the website no longer matches the items listed.

Unavailable or archived items are now visible.

You cannot make items that suddenly became visible, invisible or unavailable - you can't undo this mess.

i.e. YOU NO LONGER HAVE CONTROL OF YOUR OWN WEBSITE!!!!!!!

Our item descriptions are correct- thank God. Sounds like an awful bug.

Just to add my voice here, if this thread is reviewed by Square Engineers.  (I've submitted my thoughts via Customer Service as well.)  Unavailable is a feature I make a whole lot of use of.  In my industry, product release dates are hugely important and things need to be done with precise timing.  I always have a whole load of WIP products marked as unavailable, in various states of readiness to go.  As we get more information on the products from our suppliers, I work towards having them fully ready to go live.  Then when the time comes for them to be sold, I can search for all our unavailable products, scan the list for the relevant products, and make them all available at the same time.  It's an incredibly useful feature that is ingrained in the way I use Square and I've just lost it.  I currently can't see any way to work around it and I'm very frustrated.

Hi @TeamBSTS ,

Thank you for raising this. Your case is shared by others and it's one that we missed in moving to using channel assignment in place of Unavailable site visibility. We're planning to re-enable this functionality by allowing you to filter for items that are not assigned to a channel, but in the meantime, a workaround I can suggest is to export items from your library to Excel or a CSV to filter for "unavailable" items there under the "Square Online Item Visibility" column header. Values here can be edited to "visible" and the Excel file or CSV can then be reimported. Nevertheless, I appreciate that this isn't ideal and causes you to spend more time doing the same task you've been doing before. We're looking into how to restore this functionality within Dashboard soon.

UPDATE Wednesday May 13th:

Hi folks! Quick update: the Engineering team is still working on fixing any affected items, but the most relevant update for you all is that this shouldn't continue to happen for any fixed or updated items.

Additionally, for anybody who has reported that they are affected in this thread, we've ensured any items currently unassigned from their Online Store channel (previously Unavailable) are truly not visible online.

If you find that you're still affected, reply to me under this comment and I'll flag your account to the team!

Again, thank you so much for hanging in there!
