Social Share Icons

I am trying to find a way to add social share icons to my Square Online store (for my content / blog pages and well as for my item pages). Has anyone figured out a way to do this. I'm pretty surprised that this feature isn't already included in the "add a section" drop down list for each page.

Has anyone figured out a work around?

I’ve been looking too. This should be an automatic IMHO.  Would love for someone to post a workaround or Weebly to add the feature.

I found them in the footer section of the editor when I was setting up my store.

I'd add an image of it, but apparently I don't have permission to add and image here.

Those icons are linked to your Social profiles if you have chosen to add them. What I (we all) need are essentially the same icons - that we can add to the top of any page so visitors can share the content of that web page to their social channels, messages, emails, etc. This feature helps broaden our reach to new audiences. This is a pretty basic function that's included in every other platform I have looked at. I'm surprised (and disappointed) that it isn't already included here.

If any admins are following this thread - how do we get an eta for this feature?

Unfortunately those are just follow icons and not "share" buttons. 😕

Hi @Quiltblox - this is a great idea! Have you suggested it as a feature request for Square Online? If not, you can do so here if you want. 😊

As a workaround, you might be able to use the Embed Code section in Square Online to add social media like/share options. Check out this article in the Support Center to learn more

That's a great feature request but I would think that this would be a very high priority.

In regard to the Embed code, I tried a couple of known sharing apps and used their embed code.  Neither one worked.  ShareThis and AddThis..

If anyone has any others that they think might work, I'd love to hear about them. From what I can tell, Weebly has its own share add-on that, of course, costs money to add.

Hey @SusiS - I have not tested the Embed Code section with either AddThis or ShareThis, but I can take a look later and let you know what I find out.

I have tried the embed code and it does not seem to work for this purpose. It's pretty frustrating. I have suggested it before but will do so again. I'd be very surprised that more shop owners wouldn't find it to be incredibly helpful in sharing their webpage content, items, menus, etc to social media. Having the ability to add those sharable icons means that every visitor to our site - would be able to share our content. Isn't that the point - to get more people to know about what we do and become our customers?

The workaround for this is to save the PNG of the social media icon as a photo and add the link to it.

That's what I ended up doing for a while. Not the most elegant solution. I gave up waiting for this - what I consider to be a very basic feature - and moved my website back to WordPress.
