Is it wrong to put my online store first?

Is it wrong to put my online store first?  While selling on other platforms is great, I just don't want to rely completely on them.  Americasprice online store customers will always have first priority.  Now, I'm not saying that if a customer buys from Americasprice on another selling platform that they are less valuable ALL MY CUSTOMERS ARE VALUABLE.   However, what I am saying is that if I'm down to one item and it sells on another platform and a customer at the same time buys it from my own online store, I'm going to sell it to the customer who purchased it direct from my website.

I do this because other selling platforms don't really care about Americasprice.   They can at any time close my account or restrict my account.  The last thing I want to do is make Americasprice look bad by canceling orders because an item sold on another platform, and I forgot to update the quantity on my online store.  That's why I'm asking, is it wrong to put my online store first?

I absolutely put my own online store first. Those customers are going to be your bread and butter and most likely your repeat customers, versus customers that find your product on another site just because they were searching for the lowest price on that item or something similar. Customers buying from your site could add up to hundreds if not thousands of dollars in sales over the term of your relationship to them. We even prioritize our brick and mortar store over our website during the holidays. I add a banner to our website that explains that people are shopping real time in the store at the same time they are shopping online and that we fulfill orders ASAP but that occasionally overselling happens. When this does happen, one of our managers calls them to inform them and apologize, and then we include a small coupon in their order for their next purchase.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way.  Thank you.  I appreciate you

Our situation is a little different, but our answer is the same - we prioritize online over everything else. We have a brick and mortar in a tourist area and we sell at gem and mineral shows. Our online customers are our more consistent customers so they are our priority, especially our long-time online customers. Gem and mineral show customers often convert to online customers since they usually will only get to see us in person once a year. Brick and mortar customers sometimes convert to online customers, but often not. Online and shows take up so much time, we are phasing out the brick and mortar part of our business.

I understand what you mean I also have a brick and mortar shop majestic oceans pets, I have my online website but I also run on door-dash. but if I get and order from my online store and one from door-dash I'm gonna full-fill the one from my store first then door-dash if I have sufficient stock. so I completely understand how you feel your online store customers will always come back if they feel they've been prioritized

I honestly thought that I was going to get person or two who was going to disagree with my decision.   I'm glad and it makes me feel a lot better knowing that this is a good business decision.   I appreciate your input.  Thank you so much.

I don't think so! Wherever your main revenue source is should be prioritized but maybe updating the quality in those alternate locations to shrink your inventory a little bit so you're never having to cancel orders - then you can refresh your inventory like once a month in those alternate locations
