Where can I find the Item Sales report in my Dashboard?

I need a count of items sold, not of sales.  For example,  If I have 20 books for sale, if I sell 3 books in one sale, the sales count is 1 book sale and inventory says I have 19 books left.    How do I have it show 3 books sold?  Modifiers don't work.

Hi @tonymanuel, welcome to the Community!

Thanks for your question! You're right, the standard Sales Summary will show the number of transactions (i.e., one sale), not the total quantity of items sold within that sale.

To see a count of individual items sold (regardless of how many were sold in a single transaction), you can use the Item Sales report

How to view total items sold:

1. Go to your Square Dashboard.

2. Click on Reports > Sales > Item Sales.

3. Choose your date range

4. You'll see a list of items, with a "Items Sold" column — this shows exactly how many of each item was sold, regardless of how many transactions they were part of.

This report gives you the total units sold per item, so in your example, it would correctly show 3 books sold, not just one sale.

Something to note is that to accurately track and report the quantity of items sold, stock tracking needs to be enabled for those items in your Square Library. Without it, the system won’t be able to deduct sold quantities or provide detailed item-level sales counts.

If you haven’t set that up yet, here’s a quick overview:

1. Go to your Items & Services > Items > Item Library in the Dashboard.

2. Edit the item and enable Stock Tracking.

3. Set your starting inventory count.

Once enabled, your Item Sales reports will reflect the exact quantities sold and updated inventory levels.

I hope this helps to answer your questions! 🙂
