Unit cost

My unit cost was incorrect on an item, I made the change however that change is not reflected when I run my COGS report so my numbers are incorrect. I think Square is telling me I can’t change it but that makes no sense - going forward my report numbers will all be incorrect.

The cost on the item is basically just the default for new stock. COGS actually pulls from the cost that got logged when you received or counted the inventory, oldest first. So your edit only kicks in for stock you bring in from now on, and the stuff already on your shelf still carries the wrong number.

Go to your inventory History log on the Dashboard, find the original stock intake for that item, and change the cost there. That should carry through to the later adjustments. If it came in on a purchase order, edit it on the PO instead. Then give it a day, since the report only refreshes overnight.
