We have two square readers on the same account. How to see what reader got which payments?
HI @Caring
Welcome to the Square Community. I've listed a couple solutions that were posted here i. Let us know if that will work for you!
There are a couple of ways we can track this. The first option is the simplest (and free!) - you can track the device by naming them:
On Android devices, open the Square app, tap the three horizontal lines > Settings > Hardware > Device name > > enter a name.
On iOS devices, open your device’s Settings > tap General > About > Name and edit the name associated with your device.
Once you’ve named your device, you’ll be able to track which device accepted each payment by downloading your Transactions spreadsheet or filtering your sales by device by selecting Filter By. Learn more about tracking payments.
Alternatively, you can subscribe to Team Plus and track team sales. It's important to note that Team Plus is a paid subscription service (it's £20/month).
Thanks, that's very useful. However I have had two days already where we used two readers on the same account without naming them. Can I still figure out which payment was taken on what square device?
.
Here are two options that should help you narrow this down, even for those days before the devices were named:
In Square Transactions, you can filter by Device. If the readers were connected as separate devices, you should still be able to filter transactions by device name in the dashboard to see which payments came from which reader.
Another approach going forward is to enable staff PINs and assign a unique PIN per device. That way, even if devices aren’t clearly named, you can search and filter transactions by the staff PIN used, which effectively ties transactions back to a specific device.
Both methods together give you much better visibility and make future tracking a lot easier.
