New here. Do any of you own a mall with vendors? If so, how do you keep track of vendor sales

@Donnachat We have seen this as a question a couple of times, and it is a little bit of an interesting query.  Ideally, you would have it where you don't have to touch anything, but in square there are a couple of different considerations.  You can have items associated with each seller and treat them as an independent contractor 1099 and do it that way, that is generally the simple way to do it, you get the money and just get to deduct whatever you charge from them as a % etc.  You only have 1 tax form to file for each one, etc.

Basically you do all the accounting side for the "mall" and you pay each booth as a contractor.  You can do simple pass through then bill them separately however you like for rent, fees, etc, and do a monthly or weekly payout.

How do you deal with sales tax when the mall takes payments and then pays out to each vendor?
