LF Guidance when generating a Transaction report from a different TimeZone..

Sometimes I move to another Time-zone but still need to generate a Transaction Report in CSV format.  When I do, somehow the Time zone is being changed in the Transaction CSV report and it makes my scripts fail.  I am using my laptop and access Square On-line to get to my reports.  I have my Laptop set to Central Time zone and NOT automatically change when I'm in a new Time-Zone.  I would appreciate assistance to show me or guide me to keep my Time-Zone unchanged.

The timezone for exports and reports depends on the device you’re using, so it should always match the device’s timezone. Since your laptop is already set to Central for testing, please try setting your tablet’s timezone to Central as well. If the report still appears incorrect afterward, please reply with a screenshot of the timezone settings from both your tablet and Square, and I’ll include that in the escalation.

Hi @RockyCreekCandl, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I haven’t seen this reported before, but I completely understand how upsetting this must be.

This does sound glitchy. Can you confirm that you are using the recommended browser, Google Chrome? If so, please reply with your timezone settings both on your laptop and in Dashboard.

Thanks,

I have tried Chrome, as well as Edge, and Firefox and the result is the same.

I confirm my date and time, and then going into Transactions, select the date range I need, and then generate report.  I am prompted for CSV, PDF, etc, and I select CSV.  The file gets downloaded and when I open it, the TimeZone has changed to whatever timezone I'm in, and then that also changes the timestamp of the transaction.

Thanks for trying all those different browsers.

The support team and I did some testing on our end, and the transaction report downloaded in the correct timezone. I know this can be a bit annoying, but could you try downloading it from a different device?

I really appreciate you working through this with me!

Thanks.

So, I logged in with my Tablet, and turned off Automatic date and time, and set the time zone to Hawaii (-4 hours from Central).

Then, I logged into my Square online account. Opened Transactions and generated a report for a time period.  Then I selected, "EXPORT" and downloaded the CSV file format.  My Square account is set to Central time zone.

When I opened the file, the Time Zone column = Hawaii.
