Help understanding Sales Tax calculation

Reporting Sales Tax is a mess.  I have no problem with rounding differences, but please explain how this transaction makes sense.  I have our taxes set up as 6% FL and 1% County Discretionary.  I can't figure out any method that equals $.03 for the Discretionary tax.  Screenshot 2026-10-10 at 18-31-32 Transactions Square Dashboard.pngScreenshot 2026-10-10 at 18-39-15 Sales taxes - Payments - Account & settings Square Dashboard.png

Hello @kittenangel ,

The math will work out if you do NOT have the "brevard" tax turned on for the "Apparel Womens Tops".

The math would be $0.99 + $1.99 = $2.98.  The brevard tax would be 1% of $2.98 or $.03.

Could the issue be that you don't have the brevard tax applied to the one item by mistake?

Thank you for the help.  There was an exception turned on and I have no idea how.  Just glad it was the 1% not the 6%(although I probably would have noticed sooner if it was).
