Hello,
I am evaluating POS systems for my retail store and would like to confirm whether your system supports the following features:
Ability to view daily sales/turnover reports, with accurate end-of-day totals.
Ability to see discount amounts and details in the sales reports (not just gross sales).
Daily sales totals must match the actual transactions and be reconcilable.
Support to print sales invoices/receipts using a receipt printer.
Ability to connect to receipt printers and POS hardware (e.g., cash drawer, barcode scanner).
Inventory management with low-stock alerts (notifications when stock is low).
Ability to check best-selling products over a specific date range.
Support for both cash payments and card/POS terminal payments at checkout.
Ability to generate and export daily sales reports (e.g., PDF/Excel) that can be shared or archived.
Multi-language support, including the ability to display/print product names in Dutch (or custom languages).
Ability to apply custom discounts at checkout and have those discounts shown on printed receipts.
Ability to share reports or send them via email or other export options.
Could you please confirm which of these features your system supports, and provide any relevant details/examples?
Thank you.
Hello,
We have had several POS systems for our floral, greenhouse and garden center shop over the years. I am happy I made the switch in 2020. From a cost point when we compared it to our other options is was more affordable even with adding in the extras. From a customer service aspect, Squares on the phone tech people are great, kind and patient, This forum is hugely valuable. As far as ease (as with anything there is a learning curve, but I felt this was so fast for me) My younger generation of staff steps right in after some hands on practice with minimal difficulty. However, we wish there was a training module available.
Ability to view daily sales/turnover reports, with accurate end-of-day totals. Yes the daily reports that can be printed out from the actual register or from you desktop are easy to read and have loads of information on them for your inputs, like discounts, tax, category sales, item sales. Also under on the desktop (I think even your phone will give you some reports with the square app- I have an android) From the desktop Reports-sales- sales trends you can snapshots graphs to give you an idea of day to day or week to week or month to month or year to year. Category sales reporting is also very informative. reports - payments can help you track discounts
Ability to see discount amounts and details in the sales reports (not just gross sales). yes this is on the daily report gives gross and net
Daily sales totals must match the actual transactions and be reconcilable. Yes, I usually use this from the desktop.
Support to print sales invoices/receipts using a receipt printer. Yes you can print receipts from the POS register, as far as printing invoices you can print invoices from your desktop or you can print the paid receipts (not invoice) from the POS station, for proof of payment you may give to your client. When an invoice is paid you may automatically email your client an updated paid invoice.
Ability to connect to receipt printers and POS hardware (e.g., cash drawer, barcode scanner). Yes barcode scanner, and cash drawer, receipt printer came with my system. I did work with a square representative because I wanted to make sure I did not miss anything. I do have a printer for both registers and I have a dymo label writer printer for my desktop to print barcodes/price labels (you can also print bulk using label sheets (avery, uline, etc) from your laser printer... LOVE THAT use the label printing part of items almost every day. The dymo comes in handy for small runs of labels
Inventory management with low-stock alerts (notifications when stock is low). YES... i had a lot of these set up at first and it does alert you if you are running low at the register during a sale when scanning items in if it is low or you are technically sold out of the item, however you can turn this off. In the inventory management you can look at stock overview, stock counts, history of when changes were made, purchase orders (this is where I create labels for new stock being received) also you can look at pending restocks
Ability to check best-selling products over a specific date range. I feel it can do this I have yet to delve into this... would love if someone from the group could chime in on this question.
Support for both cash payments and card/POS terminal payments at checkout. Yes, and checks, other payment, digital gift cards from square, other type of CC gift cards. instore printed gift certificates, ACH and even other types of custom payments
Ability to generate and export daily sales reports (e.g., PDF/Excel) that can be shared or archived. Yes I am that old that I use the excel reports all the time
Multi-language support, including the ability to display/print product names in Dutch (or custom languages). I know my customer facing screen gives the option of English, French, Spanish and Japanese However there might be an app you could use https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/7679-translate-your-square-online-site I would also speak with a sales rep
Ability to apply custom discounts at checkout and have those discounts shown on printed receipts. Yes it shows the discount under the item and it will also show total saving at the bottom of the receipt and on the customer facing screen (however, I feel customers don't really see that savings)
Ability to share reports or send them via email or other export options. Yes you can even send purchase orders to your vendors if you are truly that organized and creating items is a breeze either at the desktop item's section, the purchase order section, at the POS register or even on the fly when ringing out a customer for an item that either got missed or put in the wrong way ( do reprint those receipts so I can correct the mistake after the client has left)
I hope I helped you and if you have any further question Please don't hesitate Have a great day!

Hi @CSGO,
I’ll jump in specifically on question 7, as @ehflower has already done a fantastic job covering the rest (thank you for that!).
In short, yes! You can view your best-selling items over any selected date range by accessing the Item Sales Report in your Dashboard. This report allows you to filter by custom date ranges and review performance details.
You can also explore additional insights through the Category and Modifier reports. Our online guide walks through each of these reports and what information they include.
I hope this helps answer all your questions! You can reach out to us anytime.
