G'day everyone,
I'm wanting some expertise on a situation I'm trying to work out. We recently got a retro vending machine that only takes $2 coins. We keep $2 coins in our cash drawer, but I need to make sure the system will account for them properly.
If someone wants a can, but doesn't have a $2 coin on them, we process a '$2 can' item through our eftpos portal, then give them a $2 can from our cash drawer. What I've realised is that our cash drawer is then out, because it doesn't know we've removed a $2 coin from it.
Can I set something up so that the $2 eftpos payment for '$2 can' also withdraws $2 from our cash drawer at the same time?
Thanks!
Hey @Makespace,
Thanks for writing in! I noticed it's your first post- welcome to our community 👋 😊
There's no way to link a card transaction to an action taken on your cash drawer, as cash out isn't a feature with Square, and it would actually be a terms of service violation to sell cash using Square.
You'd have to manually track how many "$2 can" items you've sold in your reports, or perhaps have a separate drawer, or envelope / system for the retro vending machine.
I'm sorry I couldn't offer a better workaround!
