Square Payroll + Square Shifts

Looking to integrate Square Payroll and Square Shifts into our existing restaurant Square set up. My question is whether there is any overlap in the features provided?

Essentially we are looking to have payroll, scheduling, clock in/out, and general team management (employees can request time off, see earnings, see schedule, etc.) all rolled in together and connected to our existing Square POS. We have about 15 employees currently.

It's my understanding that we would have to pay $3.50/mo per employee for Square Shifts, plus $35/mo + $6 per person paid. Assuming two pay periods a month (so $52.5/mo for Square Shifts, plus $35/mo + $12/mo per employee to pay each employee twice), that's $267.50 a month to pay everyone and manage their schedules. Is this correct? Am I missing something such as a plan that includes these things together?

I like Square and would love to integrate more features into our existing set-up, but this seems prohibitively high compared to using something like Homebase, Patriot, Ripple, and others in the industry. I just feel like I MUST be missing something when I see that total.

Hi @ElementWFP.  As you suspected, you are way high.  It’s not your fault, really.  I find this part of Square pricing to be unnecessarily confusing.  Anyway….

If you are a Restaurants Plus/Premium Subscriber

Teams Plus is included. So there’s no charge for that.

Shifts is also included, so there’s no charge for that.

As for Payroll, that would be an additional $35 per month.  But it is only $6 per employee per month, not per payroll run.  So if you have 15 employees, the additional cost for Payroll would be 35 + (15 * 6) = $125.

If you are a Restaurants Free Tier Subscriber

Teams Plus is $35 per month.  Period.

Shifts is free for the first 5 employees.  After that you pay $4 per employee per month, for $40.

Payroll is the same as I outlined above, $125

So the cost would be $200 monthly for 15 employees.
