why does PPL require that I apply for Square Capital?

An email went out from Square Capital, stating: Pre-apply now for stimulus funds through Square Capital. When going through the application process for PPL, there is a box that you can tick, saying you are NOT applying for Square Capital.

However, I have received 4 hourly emails about my "Square Capital Application".

A call to Square Capital, transferred me to the "PPP Department" which is not a PPP department. But a support tech wanting to transfer me back to Square Capital.

Don't know if the email was just a marketing gimmick. All efforts to find out about PPP online and on phone, say Square Capital and PPL are separate. But emails from Square Capital about PPP are clearly attempting to get you to apply for Square Capital.

Can someone at Square clarify this confusion? Not helpful, seems to be a sales trick by Square Capital, especially since SC Dept on phone transfers you to phantom department.

Hey @Chiot,

Sorry for any confusion here. Our Capital team is the team who is handling the PPP applications so with us- these are the same department.
