Hi @robbie211 Welcome to the Community 😊

Can you give us a little more context about the issue you are having? Is this an item on your Square Online store, or an item you are selling in person? Which device are you using to checkout with?

Online store sales tax may not be applicable depending on where the customer is located. Can you post a link to the item that did not charge tax so I can take a look at the live site and checkout flow?

I do NOT want it to charge tax. It's an event and all proceeds are being donated to a non-profit.

Thank you for the clarification. Where did you change the setting? I believe you need to make the change from the Square Online dashboard.

Click on Items > Item Library, then the item you wish to edit. Scroll down a bit, and you will see an option to make the item tax exempt. It should be directly beneath the availability section.

Let me know how that goes. 😊

I said in my post, I set it up to NOT CHARGE TAXES. Under taxes i unchecked all boxes for NO TAX and it is still charging tax and says Texas in parenthesis.

I found it myself. I had to click on ONLINE STORE SETTINGS. I don’t know why I have to change settings in TWO places to do ONE thing. This item isn’t even available in my online store! I made a buy button to place on my website. It took A WEEK to get support for a simple fix bc square is impossible to use and there is zero support provided. I have to post on a website and wait for help for a week. How are we supposed to run businesses like this?

I apologize for the frustration. Taxes will sync from Square to the Square Online dashboard for pickup and delivery orders. If the order is shipped, the tax rules are controlled by the settings on the Square Online dashboard. I do agree it is a bit confusing, and I can submit feedback to the team about your experience.
